Duck Shooter

152cm x 101cm

Finalist in KAAF Art Prize 2015

Duck Shooter has been widely recognized by Industry experts and Art critics alike due to its striking and controversial message making it a highly nominated and a finalist in many different art awards, the most recent being the KAAF Art Prize 2015.

Duck Shooter depicts a human hunter with a duck’s head holding his kill which happens to be Katrina's childhood doll, Catherine. Katrina's idea was to juxtapose the role of the human and the hunted in order to draw attention to the tragedy of the kill in the name of sport.

Katrina used her doll Catherine to embellish the idea of the hunted being an innocent victim and a member of a family with no weapons, against a shooter in search of a dopamine (feel-good hormone) fix.

Duck Shooter is the 3rd painting in The Bird Series
